21st Century Building Expo and Certified Green Professional
The annual conference of the NC Home Builders Association was held last month in Charlotte, NC. Brightwater attended the conference and building expo along with 4,800 other registrants from across the state. We attended several days of classes furthering our education as general contractors and enjoyed the opportunity to network with some of the best in the business. The expo center was full of new, cutting edge products with the emphasis certainly on new green building technology.
It was a lot to take in but on the other side of it all, we can honestly say, it is good to go green!
In August, Jim and Mason attended the National Association of Home Builders Certified Green Professional workshop in Boone to receive our national certification. Although we have been using green technology for years, there have been so many recent improvements in the industry and choosing a builder with experience and continuing education in the field is quickly becoming the model of choice.
As you know, building green incorporates the use of energy efficient appliances, lighting systems, HVAC and insulation packages to reduce operating costs by conserving energy. The use of more durable construction materials results in less maintenance on a home’s exterior just as the use of more organic materials provides maximum indoor environmental quality. With every home Brightwater constructs, we take care to minimize the disturbance of the surrounding land, making every effort to reduce a new home’s environmental impact.
In this challenging business and economic environment, we are finding in addition to our new home construction, a resurgence in more clients interested in home improvements and renovations to existing properties. We will be happy to discuss with you any remodeling or home additions you may be considering and offer to you our comprehensive recommendations along the lines of preferred building materials and current green technology.
